PARIS (July 12) XINHUA via NewsEdge Corporation - A Mirage
2000-D fighter of the French air force crashed early Wednesday
morning near Nancy, northeastern France, after it collided with
another plane from the same air base, the Agence France-Presse (AFP)
reported.
AFP quoted the Nancy-Ochey air base as saying that the accident
took place during a night training mission which lasted from
Tuesday morning till Wednesday morning.
The two pilots of the crashed plane were injured when they
ejected themselves from the plane, which crashed into a forest
not far from the air base.
The other plane involved in the accident returned to the base
safe and sound, said AFP.
This is the second time in nearly two months that a Mirage
fighter of the French air force crashed.
A Mirage 5 fighter crashed on April 6 in Corsica.
