Sqn. Ldr. Sarfaraz Ahmed Rafiqui of the Pakistan Air Force was flying an F-86 Sabre in a raid against the Halwara Air Base. In combat against Indian Air Force Hunters he shot down Fg Off P S Pingale, who ejected. Fg Off A R Gandhi, Pingale's wingman damaged Rafiqui's Sabre with gunfire. He made an effort to eject but left it too late and he was killed in action.
