taken prisoner by Iranian ground ground forces

On Thursday 11th March 1982 an Iraqi Air Force MiG-23MLA flown by 1st. Lt. Abdolsalam Abbas Abdolhoseyni momentarily "popped up" from its low level flight to attack Iranian ground forces. The jet was immediately detected and targeted by Iranian Anti Aircraft defences.

An Iranian Hawk surface to air missile was launched from its location in the Fakkeh Area and found its target. The MiG exploded and crashed. Abdolhoseyni ejected shortly before the explosion and descended by parachute and was taken prisoner by Iranian ground ground forces
