Reported that the two crew ejected from their aircraft rather than attack Benghazi. It now appears that the pilot refused to carry out the attack and the co-pilot threatened him with a pistol. The pilot ejected leaving the co-pilot no option but to eject. Confirmation of these details and the whereabouts of the crew appreciated.

Photographs clearly showing a pilot ejecting from a MiG-23BN(?) on the outskirts of Benghazi were shown in many media news reports. Anti-Gaddafi forces confirmed that one of two aircraft sent to repel Libyan forces entering Benghazi crashed.
Whether it was shot down or suffered engine problems is not yet known. Latest reports confirm aircraft shot down by pro-Gaddafi gunners and pilot ejected safely.*

Dates

Times
on this site

I get a lot of correspondence concerning exact dates and times of a losses. This is often due to the manner in how the dates and times are recorded in various sources.
Unless specific information can be found a date showing 2/4/1952 could easily be either
2nd April 1952   or  4th February 1952.
Time Zones are not always given so it is not always evident whether it is a local time, a regional or national zone or standardised GMT.
Please note that where possible I will add further "TIME" and DATE" information to each entry as appropriate

Database

I've been considering re-designing parts of the web-site so that they are driven by a Database that ensures ALL pages that contain the same information are automatically updated. At present I have to individually update each page. This often leads to errors and mis-matching of information.
If anyone can help me get to grips with the fundamentals of using MS SQL and adding it to FRONTPAGE I'd be pleased to hear from you.
Adding such a facility should also mean specific searches can be requested by visitors to the web site as well as increasing the functionality of the site.
