On 5th June 2007 there was a Russian emergeny. A MiG-29UB took off from Domna airbase and it had an engine fire. The pilots (Lt.Col Aleksey Okutin and Capt. Albert Khadzhiyarov) managed to land the aircraft.

Unconfirmed reports are circulating in the media of a Syrian MiG-21 crashing following a brief mission over the Israeli held Golan Heights.

The Israeli Air Force had sent F-15 to confront Syrian MiGs detected over the Golan. By the time the F-15s arrived the MiGs had left the area. It was following their return to Syrian air space that the crash is alleged to have happened

The Israeli Air Force had been on alert for expected Syrian retaliatory strikes following unconfirmed reports that Israel had made an aerial and covert ground assault on a suspected Syrian nuclear installation near the Iraq border on 6th September.

Rebels in Darfur have claimed to have shot down a Sudanese Government MiG-29. They say they have the wreckage of the aircraft but have not located the pilot.

These claims are being dismissed by the Sudanese Government.

Since Monday 12th June 2007 there have been a great many media reports that an Algerian MiG-29 crashed and the pilot ejected. I added this news alert to the webpage.
Why then, within a few hours, did I remove it?
I received an email within five hours of posting the information to say the aircraft, that may not even have been a MiG was on a test flight over the Mediterranean sea and made a "Mach bang". Local Algerian initially media reported the the "explosion" that at one time was thought to be a terrorist attack but was later credited to a crash. Other world media, including this website, picked up the story and the news spread quickly
The aircraft landed safely and normally at Bousfer air.

Indian Air Force jet trainer crashed in Bhubaneswar - Crashed during take off after refuelling at Bhubaneswar Airport on way to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh from Kalaikunda airbase.

It is not clear whether the pilot use the ejection seat or "get out" of the aircraft while on the ground
