The Indian Air Force pronounced that 2005 was their safest year for flying for 36 years with a total of 10 crashes. This figure was an improvement on 2004 when there were 15 crashes.

BHAKKAR: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jet on training flight crashed near Bhakkar on Tuesday whereas pilot of the plane ejected safely.

According to details, a PAF F-7 plane that takes off from Mianwali Airbase was crashed near Sher Garh area of tehsil Mankera, Bhakkar at 1:40 PST. Pilot of the plane ejected safely. Fire brigade instantly extinguished the fire erupted after crash. DCO Bhakkar and DPO Bhakkar reached the incident site. Investigations of the incident underway.

State Dept. OV-10D crashes in Colombia, pilot hurt

Just after takeoff for a drug-eradication mission on the morning of Feb. 6, State Dept. OV-10D Larandia, Colombia, during VFR conditions. The pilot (name withheld here for security reasons) was seriously injured according to the NTSB report, while other sources have reported the injuries as minor scrapes and bruises. The Bronco was destroyed. Another aircraft that took off before the OV-10 reported that the pilot had power problems with the right engine, proceeded to dump most of the chemicals, and said he was unable to feather the propeller and that he couldn't maintain altitude. He elected to eject, and the airplane burned and shed parts during impact upon rough terrain. The right engine separated from the airframe and the main wreckage came to rest about 3,000 feet from the initial impact point. The preliminary NTSB report is at

August News	1st JSF FLIGHT SEAT DELIVERY In August 2006, Martin-Baker completed a major milestone with the delivery of the first Flight Seat for the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. The US16E is the latest of Martin-Baker’s Mk.16 range of ejection seats and it is common to all F-35 aircraft variants. This new ejection seat is the result of more than 50 years of escape systems experience and technological research. Under the current schedule, Martin-Baker will deliver 15 seats for the 15 aircraft that will undergo flight testing. News November 7th 2006	250kt Escape Test Performed The team at Martin Baker Aerospace conducted a 250kt escape systems test on Nov. 7. The transparency had symmetrical separation on both sides, the panels remained well intact during the initial separation (similar results to the 165kt test on Oct. 31) and both breakaway pieces and remaining panels flew away without issue. The seat performed well with good seat man separation, the auxiliary parachute and main parachute deployed as designed and there was no collateral damage.

Footage showing a deployed parachute parachute and intact canopy were claimed to be from the F-16. An early US Official Statement - "Duty Whereabouts - Status Unknown was later CHANGED to KIA" It is now speculated that Major Gilbert did not eject. No automatic emergency beacon was activated - which would have been expected if an ejection had taken place FURTHER DETAILS / CLARIFICATION APPRECIATED
