From
garyjen@bellsouth.net Tue Feb 17 17:32:50 1998 I am in the process of doing a web site for my father Colonel Gary G. Wright USAF, MIA 1-17-67 NVN case #0570. He was flying an RF4-C, SN# 65-888, call sign "gigilo", with the 11th TRS out of Udorn along with Major Fred Wozniak. They never returned from a mission 18 miles SW of Hanoi and no other information has ever appeared on either. If anyone reading this knew my father, I would appreciate it if you wrote me. He also was a pilot in the Korean War, flying an F-86. Also, if anyone has any pictures of Vietnam Era RF4-Cs, I would appreciate it if you could send them to me. Thanks for any help, Gary G. Wright Jr.

Mike, A buddy put me onto your site and I'd like to thank you for all this work. For your information, I was that F-100 pilot that punched out on 16th May 1967. It's a long story, and I was only slightly injured. The explosion that brought the Hun down was due to mechanical problems, and my seat was the rocket type. If you would like anything else, let me know. Cheers. |

RF-4C 64‑1042 16 TRS, 460 TRW, USAF, Tan Son Nhut Maj Gilland Wales Corbitt (KIA) 1 Lt William Orlan Bare (KIA) Another Phantom was lost in the Annamites during the night of the 26th. Maj Corbitt and 1Lt Bare took off from Tan Son Nhut for a photographic reconnaissance mission over the southern provinces of North Vietnam, which would include taking photographs of a ferry at Laut Son. Apparently the crew had finished their task and was returning when their aircraft disappeared in the mountains about 25 miles west of Dong Hoi. Their was no evidence to suggest that the crew had survived the crash of their aircraft.

Engine-development P.1127 Crashes A Hawker Siddeley P.1127 Kestrel crashed on Salisbury Plain last Thursday, September 21. Boscombe Down test pilot Sqn Ldr H. Rigg, who was flying the aircraft from Filton to Boscombe Down, ejected safely. The Kestrel was an ex-Tripartite Squadron aircraft that was being used by Bristol Siddeley as an engine development test-bed for the definitive Harrier tactical fighter for the RAF. It had been re-engined with the up-rated Pegasus 6 engine of the Harrier, in place of its original Pegasus 5. Though it was the only aircraft specifically engaged in engine development its loss, believed to result from engine failure, is not expected seriously to hinder the programme, since six Harriers are engaged in powerplant development.
