Ist Lt. Hayden Lockhart had the dubious distinction of becoming the first USAF officer to be shot down and taken captive by the North Vietnamese on 2nd March, 1965.
"I was shot down 2 March
1965 while flying flak suppression on an
ammo dump in North Vietnam. I was released 12th February, 1973 and
reported to Travis AFB, California for Medical check."
