A T-45 Goshawk aircraft from Training Air Wing 2 at Naval,  Air Station Kingsville crashed about one and a half miles northeast of their base while on a routine training mission.

Both crew successfully ejected. Following routine medical evaluation at local hospitals both were released.

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday (Oct 31), a T45 Goshawk training aircraft, assigned to Training Air Wing Two on board Naval Air Station Kingsville, crashed while undergoing routine flight training. The accident occurred about one-point-five (1.5) miles northeast of the air station in an open field on the nearby King Ranch. The aircraft’s two pilots ejected safely with only minor injuries. Both pilots were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries and were released Monday evening. The pilots have been identified as Lt. Brian Iber, instructor, and student pilot Lt.j.g. Jason Morgan. The cause of the crash is under investigation by naval authorities.

Navy plane crashes on King Ranch

KINGSVILLE - A flight instructor and a trainee from N.A.S. Kingsville are out of the hospital after their jet crashed.  It happened about 3:30 Monday afternoon, about a mile northeast of the base over some property owned by the King Ranch.

Instructor Jason Morgan and pilot trainee Brian Iber were both were slightly injured when they had to bail out of their plane.

They were in a T-45 Goshawk (pictured left).  The Navy hasn't released any details about what happened.
