  The following information was received on 5th October 2011. Please can anyone add to / amend the details especially spelling of the pilot's names.
Summer 1968

Lt  Zareeee   and Lt Aghajani  collided with each other during a gunnery practice in Koushk Nosrat Range somewhere near Tehran.. Both pilots had finished their gunnery practice successfully and made a 180 degree turn to leave the range .. one of them  had a faster speed and reached the next aircraft and collided.
Both were killed.
They were from Mehrabad AFB  .. . both were new f-5 pilots

 
February  1969

Lt Sabaghian from Dezful AFB lost his life during gunnery practice .. He flew below the safe altitude andcrashed into the target
.. he was a new pilot

Lt Saadat crashed somewhere near Shiraz ..the leader   was   flying in a very low altitude both crashed and lost their life  ..they were young and new pilots

Iranian Valfajr-8 operation

On 26th November 1989  eight F-5E's from Tabriz AFB took off to attack their targets.

 

The first formation of two F-5E's,  lead by Major Ardestani attacked an Iraqi Microwave Aerial with MK-82 bombs and with 23mm Gun Fire
28th November 1980

The second formation lead  by Captain Sharifirad and wingman 1st. Lt. Amir Zanjani was  intercepted by two irAF MIG-23MS near the city of Suleymaniye resulting in the shoot-down of 1st. Lt. Zanjani by an R-13 short range missile.

In turn Captain Sharifirad shot down the MiG-23 wingman, the kill being recorded on gun camera.
The target destination was not attacked.

[Captain Sharifirad remembers the events slightly differently and that the two aircraft were in fact MiG-21's. Zanjani's F-5 collided with one of the MiG-21s during the engagement. Neither pilot was able to eject. Sharifirad shot down the second MiG-21 immediately after the collision]
 

The third formation of four F-5s took off 10 minutes later to attack the Dookan Barrier (Dam)
The target was hit uncorrect and the number 3 of this formation 2nd. Lt. Abolhasan Abolhasani was shot down by SA-2 Missile

In the Valfajr-8 operation for liberating of FAW island and on the third day of the operations two F-5E's were hit over the Area....the leader Maj. Mostafa Ardestani was hit by an single SA-6 right after the jet crossed the Arvand River and 10 miles inside of iraqi Air Space.  Maj. Ardestani managed a safe landing at his AFB but his wingman Captain Asadzadeh was shot down and KIA over Faw and crashed with his jet.

He was a Captain and head of the training center at Shiraz AB at the time of his last mission. He was stationed at Bosheher AB for most of his career in IIAF and he was XO of  Bosheher AB in 1977. He was flying back from a bombing mission over Baghdad in a F5-E with one engine on fire. His plan was to eject over Iranian territories.  Somewhere over Susangard he became victim of friendly fire; a direct hit from Iranian SAM batteries.  His body was never found. .  I can recall the year to be 1980.

Major Pollad Davoodi

This RF-5E piloted by Major Pollad Davoodi took off from Dezful AFB to conduct a Reconnaissance  Mission over the long Front between Iran and Iraq.


Flying at low altitude over east Hoveyzeh the pilot began taking photographs at low altitude.
Returning for a second photo run the RF-5 "popped-up" but this time the jet was hit by Gun Fire.
Despite having a damaged aircraft Major Pollad escaped from the area and flew back to Dezful AFB.Area and go back to AFB

Hydraulic problems were beginning to occur and the pilot realised that there would be landing difficulties. He contacted the Air Base and informed them of the problems. On their advice he flew across the runway at 20ft AGL and the IRIAF Mechanics saw how badly it was damaged/

The pilot landed at very high speed 500km/h and was finally stopped with the help of Barriers at the end of runway.

When the reconnaissance photos were developed they revealed an amazing shadow sequence. If you look carefully at the images from right to left you can see that in the first the tail is intact. In the other pictures you can detect the damage to the aircraft tail

The photo was apparently taken at Shiraz - where this plane is believed now in service with the Flying School/Academy IRIAF
