Zambian HS.748 Crash

President Kaunda of Zambia's personal aircraft, an HS.748 of the Zambian Air Force, crashed near Lusaka International Airport on August 26; reports say that three people died and that the captain, a British officer under contract to the Zambian Defence Ministry, was seriously injured. Two inspectors from the British Board of Trade left for Zambia on August 27 after a request had been made to the BoT Accident Investigation Branch to assist the local authorities in their inquiry into the causes of the accident. Zambia has banned information about the crash, but it is believed that the possibility of sabotage has not been ruled out.
