FEEDBACK

Dear Mike,
You should correct some abreviations as follows:
- Tenente (Ten.) is the Portuguese way to write Lieutenant;
- Sargento (Sgt.) , to sergeant;
- Aspirante (Asp.), to a transient grade inmediately under 2º Lieutenant.
Maybe some war names are not correctly shown, so here they are:
1) 15th June 1977, MB326, Ten. Mayo and Capt. L. M. Ticchetti (not Tichetti);
2) 5th July 1977, MB326,  Sgt. J.A.P. Filho and Ten. M.A.C. Azevedo;
3) 8th July 1977, MB326, Ten. A.M.G. Filho;
4) 4th August 1977, MB326, Ten. A.I. Bittencourt (not Bittercourt) & Asp. A.F.C. Kauffmann (not Kanffmann);
5) 26th August 1977, MB326, Asp. P.R. Pertusi.
Regards,
Romulo

NOTES TO INCLUDE

Hi all,

maybe this is new:
26 March 2002 5656 of 3/10 GAV crashed.
The article stated that this was the second AMX lost by FAB

FAB Perde Segundo AMX ( A1)

Santa Maria (RS)- 26 Março - 10H20min. Nesta hora a Força Aérea Brasileira,
perdeu o AMX, FAB 5656 (A1B), biplace, do 3º/10º GAV Esquadrão Centauro,
(Rosseto) e tornozelo quebrado (Daniel). É o segundo acidente, com perda
total, deste tipo de avião, que a FAB teve em 13 anos de operações. O AMX,
(A1), foi introduzido na FAB em 1989.

In English:
Saint Maria (RS) - 26 March - 10H20min. In this hour the Brazilian Air Force, lost the AMX, BAF 5656 (A1B), twin-seat, of 3º/10º GAV Centauro Squadron, based on the Air base of Santa Maria (BASM). The airplane, one of the last ones to be received for 3º/10º GAV Centauro Squadron, had about 200 flied hours. The mission was commanded for 1º Clauco lieutenant-aviator Fernando Vieira Rosseto, 30 years, and for 1º lieutenant-aviator Daniel Pine Da Silva, 30 years. The pilots if had ejected and suffered: a small cut in the head (Rosseto) and broken ankle (Daniel). It is as the accident, with total loss, of this type of airplane, that the BAF had in 13 years of operations. The AMX, (A1), was introduced in the BAF in 1989.

I know that another AMX crashed on 24 July 1998 (and this was the first?).
But another crashed BEFORE delivery to FAB, while still with EMBRAER. Was
this example replaced with a new, as it wasn’t delivered yet?
Scramble database also reported that another crashed during 1989 (no serial
given) but I think that is an error...
And there is also confusion in the database about 5500, that is reported
(but not confirmed) as ex 4202 and/or ex 5530

Any further info is welcome...

Brazilian Navy A-4 Skyhawks - to research

Hi!

First, sorry my English!
I was visiting your site and saw that you have a page dedicated to
Brazilian Air Force crashes.
Well, i have some info to help you.

June 7, 1997
A-1 AMX unit/serial 5532 crashed in a test flight one week before being
delivered to FAB.
Embraer's test pilot Alberto de Almeida Neto (48 year old - Ex-FAB) died
in the crash. He didn't eject.
Some people that saw the crash, said that he was doing some aerobatics
over a small town before loosing control and crash in the woods.
Others, said that the fighter was already in flames before the crash.
Here's a picture of the crash site, and some info in Portuguese language.
http://jornal.valeparaibano.com.br/1997/06/07/tau/foto-aviao.html

July 24, 1998
A-1 AMX unit/serial N/A crashed in a training flight near Santa Cruz AFB
- Rio de Janeiro.
Air Force pilot tenente-coronel aviador (lieutenant-colonel aviator)
César Bombonato (42 years old) died in the crash (he didn't eject).
When in a dive, he suffered spatial disorientation and crashed in the
sea. His plane broke in two parts.
He was the squadron commander at that time, and was training for the Red
Flag Exercice.
Some info about him:
-He created, in 1989, the patch for the new AMX sqdn (1º/16º Fighter
Aviation Group - Adelphi Sqdn).
http://www.abra-pc.com.br/adelfi-img.html
-He was an excellent photographer, and a book with his pictures was
published after his death.

That's all for now!

Eder
