USS Essex (CV-9)		 Returning from Reconaissance Mission. After landing, lost all braking power, rolled over the side Lt(jg) Treadwell was rescued by helicopter   no ejection

On combat mission following Mid-air collision an F2H-2 Banshee crash landed  into aircraft parked on the forward flight deck causing an explosion and fire which killed seven.
The carrier went to Yokosuka for repairs returning to  frontline action on 3rd October 1951. Strikes up to the Yalu River and providing close air support to U.N. troops.
