On 3rd April 1951 Squadron Leader T. S. "Wimpey" Wade, the chief test pilot of Hawker Aircraft, was killed in a Hawker P1081 prototype jet fighter when it crashes near Lewes in Sussex. He landed still in his ML Aviation produced "Malcolm" Ejection Seat and died of his injuries |
