On 30th October 1941 Captain Bates, the pilot,  was the only survivor of the crash of a Northwest Airline at Moorhead, Minnesota. He was thrown clear through the cockpit windscreen. 14 others on board died

154th Tactical Airlift Training Squadron Crashed five kilometers short of runway while on approach to Greenville, Mississippi Undercarriage problems during "touch and go" training mission. The accident was caused by improper procedures for recovering from simulated two engines out on the same wing that flipped the plane.
