"The Sabre incident on 19 Nov
1970 listed under the SAAF section I think involved
Brig.Genl. Rod Penhal at the time a
2nd Lt, who collided with another Sabre which I believe landed
safely. Rod ejected and injured his back on landing, but recovered
to continue flying later - I was on the instructors' course with him
in 1971 at FTS Dunnottar.

| 26 March 1971 CL13B Sabre Mk.6 377 1 Sqn (I live some 5 minutes from where the accident happened, an "eyewitness" I met some years ago maintained the aircraft broke in half upon hitting the ground, cockpit pod rolled towards dunes and Arnoldi ejected through hood and landed amongst the dunes - if this is the case he is damn lucky to have survived with no major injuries) Steve | ||||||||
