FEEDBACK

" We successfully ejected from about 800ft AGL after losing the port engine to 50 Cal AA. The tail boom strut was ablaze and we thought the horizontal stabilizer would come off. Bob initiated the ejection, which worked out well, since we were then close to each other on the ground facilitating extraction by CH46."

FEEDBACK

Dear sir:
I believe that in the North American OV-10 Bronco Losses  and Ejections, 155479 should be 155497. Our Squadron, VAL4, had no 155479. A typo, I'm sure.
Thanks,

"Surprisingly, the record for the fastest save of the war is held by a HH43F assigned to the 37ARRS, 41 ARRW DaNang AB. "Pedro 61" flown by Lieutenants Bill Latham and his co-pilot James Moulton. On 23 November 1972, while on a local flight, they monitored a "Mayday" from an OV-10 FAC. To their surprise, the aircraft impacted several hundred yards in front of them and the pilot in his chute floated down toward a paddy. "Pedro 61" followed the chute down and SGt McCoy jumped out and dragged the pilot back to the helicopter. Total elapsed time from ejection to rescue was one minute and thirty seconds. "

Bronco OV-10C Bronco    411sqn shot down by Laotian ground fire during a
reconaissance mission near Laos border

Pilot ejected safely and was captured Co-Pilot ejected safely and was captured.
Notes: February saw the Royal Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) suffer its first casualties in fighting along
disputed border areas with neighbouring Laos. Both countries lay claim to a 30 square mile area
close to the Laotian capital of Vientiane some 250 miles north of Bangkok. During the short,
sharp battle in the remote mountainous region, rich in timber, a RTAF F-5E Tiger II was brought
down by a shoulder-fired Laotian SAM-7 on February 3rd. The pilot was killed.

This appears to contradict the report that the pilot ejected safely - or were two F-5s brought down??
