F-105s from 67th TFS and 355th TFH flew as part of Rolling Thunder Mission Alpha 9 Ham Rong railroad and rail bridge spanning the Song Ma river. [Dragon's Jaw] Thanh Hoa village, approx. 75 miles south of Hanoi.  Republic
F-105D Thunderchief from 67th TFS at Korat, flown by Capt. Carlyle S. Harris was hit as he left target. The aircraft was hit in the fuselage and the left wing tank was torn off. Harris ejected and was captured. He spent seven as a POW. This was the first loss of a Republic
F-105D in Vietnam.
