Subject: Thomas E. Gillen, MIA out of Ubon 2/18/70
I'm wondering if *anyone* out there might have known my father, Thomas E. Gillen, an F-4D driver with the 435th who went MIA on February 18, 1970 on a strike against Route 7, in Eastern Laos.
My father ejected his navigator, Robert S. Dotson, who was fortunately rescued later that day, yet a chute was never sighted for my dad.
I'm especially looking for the other men in his flight that day. They were: BANYAN flight: Thomas C. Lowry, Stanley J. Miller, Charles M. Gibson, Louis K. Obdyke,Thomas H. Lewter, George A. Barnes.
Of course, I'd like to talk with *anyone* who knew my father, even if you knew him only from the O'club or BX. If you didn't know him, would you perhaps know of someone from that time and place who might have?
I realize this is a long shot, but if you happen to have *any* information, my family and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, in advance. Tom Gillen

 TYPE ???

A Misty FAC aircraft was controlling a strike on a road intersection point 10 miles northeast of Ban Talan in southern Laos when it was shot down. The aircraft burst into flames when it was hit by 37mm anti‑aircraft fire and the crew ejected a few miles to the east of their target. They were later rescued by a USAF helicopter. Capt Farnsworth had been shot down in the same area exactly two months earlier when he was flying a back‑seat mission with Capt Brown.

FEEDBACK

"The correct RIO for the 25 July 1970 F-4J ejection (Martin Baker seat) was LTjg William "Bill" Harding (me).  It occurred over the Gulf of Tonkin.  Lt. Paul Gregory did not survive the low-level ejection.  The USS Josephus Daniels fished me out of the water just before North Vietnamese fishing boats reached me. (the rescue helo was "down" that day) My wingman, LT Willie Williamson and LT Craig Hoffman (RIO) remained overhead for a short time before returning to USS America for low-fuel status."

FEEDBACK

"The correct RIO for the 25 July 1970 F-4J ejection (Martin Baker seat) was LTjg William "Bill" Harding (me).  It occured over the Gulf of Tonkin.
